It seems we have been hearing about the “Affordable Health Care” act for years and it is actually getting started now. So, what is the first thing we do to make health care affordable? Of course, we spend hundreds of millions of dollars advertising. The government plans to spend at least $684 million nationally on publicity and advertising, according to an Associated Press analysis. This is a huge pile of money that will be used to convince people that paying more for health care somehow makes it affordable.
So Mr. Obama subscribes to the principle that if you say something often enough and loud enough, people will believe it. There are a lot of ways that $684 million could be used to reduce the cost of health care for the people who can’t afford it, but I don’t think advertising is one of them.
By the time “Affordable” health care is fully implemented, no one will be able to afford it.
